Audio Projects
When I first started taking production classes, I thought that audio would be something I did once for the grade and never dealt with again. My interest was in camera work, and the idea of editing something that wasn’t visual didn’t hold much appeal to me. However, after getting more experience with the medium, I found it to be one of my favorites. Not only is audio a unique challenge of creativity on its own, but the importance of audio to film and other visual mediums cannot be understated.
I am experienced in directing, recording, and editing audio both live and in post production. My featured work highlights sound design, foley, recording techniques and directing, as well as acting as samples of my creative and journalistic writing. In addition to the work I have displayed, I also work as a live sound engineer for the WFNP radio station, and I am knowledgeable in setting up and running sound systems and live recording sessions from my Audio Engineering minor.
The Legend of Vox Machina
Voiceover Project
This was my final project for my Audio Production class, and while it was a group project on paper, I did roughly 80% of the work on my own, and oversaw all aspects of the project that I didn’t create myself. I was the director for this project, I did all the casting and recording for the voices, and even voiced three of the characters myself. I did a majority of the foley, and found all of the non-foley sound effects and music. Finally, I did all of the editing for this project by myself.
Flash Narratives
Writing Project
These were smaller assignments for my Audio Production class. Each student had to write, record and edit these projects by themselves. I chose to focus my narratives on my transgender identity, exploring the positive and negative aspects of myself and my transition in a way that I’ve never been comfortable to in the past. As someone who is very nervous to make my voice heard, in both spoken and written form, this project was especially challenging and rewarding.
NPR Segment
News Project
The NPR Segment was meant to be a major group project, but after being abandoned by my groupmate, it became a solo venture. Every step of this project, from writing the script and getting the interviews to recording and editing my own V/O and creating custom sound effects, was done entirely by myself.
